SSC prepares for possible disasters
The Philippines is one of the most high-risk countries in the world for witnessing natural disaster and has been ranked as one of the most dangerous countries to live in. The lists of natural disasters that occur in the country include earthquakes, flooding, typhoons, landslides, and volcanic eruptions. On the average, 20 tropical cyclones visit the country annually due to its optimal location for tropical cyclone formation. Whereas, being situated along the Pacific Ring of Fire, there are also threats of volcanic eruptions and high tectonic activities.
Because of this, last August 29, 2015, the parents of the Junior High School (JHS) students were given the opportunity to listen to a talk on Disaster Preparedness. The invited speaker was Mr. Aldo R. Mayor, Chief, Public Safety Division of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). The talk was held at the Kuniberta Hall from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM.
