SSC participates in the 1st WFS Creative Nonfiction Workshop
The Women’s Feature Service, in collaboration with St Scholastica’s College, Manila; De La Salle, Lipa and the US Embassy conducted its 1st Creative Non-Fiction Workshop at the Women’s Wellness and Ecology Farm on May 2-4 2014, where women writers imparted their knowledge and expertise on the representation of women’s issues through print and online journalism.
The workshop aimed to train young writers in writing feature articles on women’s issues. The young writers went through a series of lectures and critical reading of submitted manuscripts.
Among the resource panelists were Philippine Daily Inquirer’s Ms. Ceres Doyo, poet and journalist Ms. Grace Monte de Ramos, poet-anthropologist Ms. Padma Perez, and poet-essayist and De La Salle University professor Ms. Marjorie Evasco.
The participants from St. Scholastica’s College were Arah Beatriz Villanueva, former editor and chief of The Scholastican and Maribelle Omar, incoming president of the Communication Society. Other participants were students from Dela Salle, Lipa, NGO and free lance writers.
