SSC Manila Celebrates 115th Community Day

December 9,2021

December 3 has always been a special day for the Scholastican Community.  In the past, different sectors of the institution looked forward to this day because the activities allowed them to mingle with other sectors during activities, performances and games.  However, the COVID-19 pandemic has transformed the Community Day celebration into a virtual activity.

This year, December 3 is the 115th Anniversary of the Foundation of St. Scholastica’s College, Manila. The Now Normal celebration began with a Eucharistic Celebration at 8:00 am presided by Fr. Ramon Jade Licuanan, Commissioner of the Archdiocesan Commission on Youth, Archdiocese of Manila and with the Santisima Trinidad Choir as well.  The mass was streamed live from the St. Scholastica’s Chapel on the official SSC Facebook page. This was followed by the live presentation of community video — Benedictine Education @ 115: Mission at the Service of Human Person.

Then, the collaborative project of the College Academic Cluster, comprised of the Student Affairs Office, Guidance, Counseling, Placement and Testing Center (GCPTC), Campus Ministry Office and the College Outreach Office – NSTP/LA, was launched. The virtual exhibit entitled “I Am A Benedictine Child” showcased the insights and experiences of the college students in relation to the Benedictine Hallmarks.  This was done through the ZOOM platform.

The day ended early for all the members of the Scholastican community.  For the rest of the day, online classes and work were put on hold for a much needed break for everyone. This gave the members of the community the opportunity to look back on the past year and be grateful for the blessings and graces they received.
