SSC Graders join ABS Students’ Congress
SSC Manila joined in the Association of Benedictine Schools Students’ Congress last August 17-20, 2015 at CICM Maryshore, Talisay City, Negros Occidental. The Congress brought together student-leaders from seven Benedictine schools: Holy Family Academy-Angeles, St. Agnes Academy-Legazpi, St. Scholastica’s Academy-Bacolod, St. Scholastica’s Academy-Marikina, St. Scholastica’s Academy-San Fernando, St. Scholastica’s College-Manila, and St. Scholastica’s College-Westgrove. The delegates participated in various leadership and team-building activities living out the theme “Our Benedictine Heritage: Our Kind of Leadership.”
The SSC Manila delegation was composed of Grade 6 student-leaders who are officers in their sections and clubs – Rice Albuero, Andy Arguelles, Emrich Baltazar, Cammie Cabreza, Christiana Conti, Sophia Cortes, Alyssa David, Erin Legaspi, Shaina Lim, Amanda Pili, and Serena Segovia. Mrs. Lilian Cristobal and Ms. Ruth Gadia served as teacher chaperones.
The highlights of the ABS Students’ Congress were the tree-planting at the Holy Family High School grounds, the talks by youth leaders and SSA-Bacolod graduates Ms. Bea Laino and Mr. Christopher Jochico, the fellowship night with presentations by the different schools, the collaborative writing of the ABS Theme Song, and the Amazing Race integrating the Benedictine Hallmarks. Sister Alexis Lamarroza, OSB, the ABS Grade School Commissioner and SSA-Marikina Grade School Principal, called on the students to practice stewardship for effective leadership, showing care and good use of individual talents and community resources for the greater good.
