SSC Grade School reaps awards at CMLI Graders Con

CMLI 2015 10SSC Manila emerged as one of the top performers among the 26 participating schools at the 36th CMLI Graders’ Convention in Teachers’ Camp, Baguio last September 3-7, 2015. SSC Manila sent 17 delegates from Grades 4-6 to vie in the convention’s Competitions for Excellence and Entertainment who gained the following winners:

     –  Champion, Essay Writing in English and Best in Journalism Workshop- Shaina Lim of 6-St. Hugh
     –  Champion, News Writing in Filipino- Noreen Hocson of 6-St. Hugh
     –  Champion, Faber-Castell Art- Alexa Samodio of 4-St. Anselm
     –  1st Runner-up, Essay Writing in Filipino- Lovelace Mejia of 6-St. Odilo
     –  1st Runner-up, News Writing in English and Best in Theater Workshop- Jessica Rivera of 6-St. Berno
     –  2nd Runner-up, Poetry Writing in Filipino- Christine Cifra of 6-St. Odo
     –  Best in Creative Writing Workshop- Marla Frange of 6-St. Berno
     –  Finalist, Pop Quiz Hot Shots- Isabella Cruz, Vianne Fallarme, and Shaina Lim of 6-St. Hugh

 The Scholastican delegation also included Margaret Cruz and Justine Rara from Grade 5, and Sophia Cortes, Queenie Cortez, Regina Custodio, Ellyssa Horsley, Julianna Magabo and Natalie Tan from Grade 6. Mrs. Lilian Cristobal, Ms. Lille Yambao, and Ms. Ruth Gadia acted as teacher chaperones.

Aside from competing, the delegates attended talent development workshops and commission discussions on the theme “The CMLI and the Filipino Youth: Trailblazing a Filipino Identity in the Global Society.” Julius Dela Cruz, a top broker for Ayala Land Premiere and RE/MAX, and Danrie Linesis, a media practitioner for TV5, shared their ideas on Global Filipino leadership through their talks.
