SSC College Week Kicks Off

The College Unit formally opened its 8th Annual College Week celebration on 3 December 2014 at the Social Hall of the Hildegard Building. This symbolically kicked off all the events and activities prepared by the different academic units for the College unit. Themed “Liberal Arts and National Heritage”, the 3-day celebration featured theme-inspired resource talks on various topics by renowned and expert speakers, creative exhibits, yoga and fitness session, academic research forum, quiz competitions, all-original Filipino musical presentation, native Filipino food salu-salo, among others.
The ceremony was graced by the welcome address of SSC President Sr. Frances Dizon OSB and the presence of the other distinguished administrators, Sub-Prioress Sr. Lydia Villegas OSB, VP Academic Affairs Virginia R. Fornias, IQAO Director Sr. Mary Vincent Feliciano, Benedictine Sisters and other special guests. Dean Asuncion Azcuna of the Arts and Sciences on her part enlightened the audience on the significance of the current theme to the contemporary concerns, and the meaning of the logo which was conceptualized by the Fine Arts Department.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the inauguration of the celebration and was immediately followed by the all-Filipino musical presentations by the School of Music talents. Accompanying all the musical numbers on the piano was Prof. Josue Greg Zuñiega. The School of Music faculty and students talents rendered both entertaining and soothing music to the listening pleasure of the audience. Complementing the musical event was the Pinoy food “salu-salo” prepared and served by the HRM faculty and students courtesy of I-Hoteleires.
