Music Alumnae Lenten Recollection 2015
The music alumni and some invited friends had a Lenten Recollection last March 23, 2015 at 9:00 in the morning, in St. John, SSC, Manila. Sr. Pauline Trivino, OSB, was the facilitator of the recollection which ended with the celebration of the Holy Mass by Fr. Hector Suano, MSSC.
Sr. Pauline aptly set the tone of the recollection by stating, “that time was a ‘date with God’ – a special time and an intense moment with Him”. She suggested 3 R’s to guide us during the recollection: REST … to silence one’s heart, to be still, to surrender, to pray. REFLECT … to see the Cross as the central figure in our lives, to step back from our situations and see and feel the love of God. RESPONSE … to get up and keep moving, to carry our crosses as Jesus carried His cross willingly and lovingly.
It was truly a special time of rest in God’s loving embrace, reflections on our personal experiences which make us want to come down from our crosses and to give in to hopelessness, and responding to His call to bear our burdens with courage and consistency.
Once again, we saw Jesus as the Model of perfect love and compassion as we all sang the song, “Amare et Servire”. A timely reminder of what Lent really means – to love and serve our neighbors and to give back to God all the glory and honor He alone deserves!
