Lakbay Dalangin: A Lenten Pilgrimage
In observance of the Lenten season and in celebration of the Year of the Laity , the non-teaching staff of St. Scholastica’s College, Manila went on a Lenten Pilgrimage in different churches from Rizal province to Laguna last April 15, 2014. This was a great opportunity for us to take some time from our hectic work schedule to pray and thank God for all the blessings as we prayed our way through Lent.
Our journey of faith started with the Eucharistic celebration in the National Shrine of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage in Antipolo City. After the mass we went straight to the following churches:
- St. Joseph Church- Baras, Rizal
- St. Peter of Alcantara Church – Pakil, Laguna
- St. James the Apostle Church- Paete, Laguna
- Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Pagsanjan , Laguna
- Sta. Maria Magdalena Church- Magdalena, Laguna
- St. John the Baptist Church- Liliw, Laguna
We prayed the Stations of the Cross and one decade of the rosary in every church. Local parishioners welcomed us with a historical treat as they willingly toured us in their church and told its story.
The journey of Lent is a pilgrimage towards the profound and joyful mystery of the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This activity helped us in renewing our relationship with God and finding the key to a successful spiritual growth in prayer.
