Jolly University: The Elite Culinary Cook-off
The Jolly University cook-off an annual culinary event is now on its 5th year. It is organized by Fly Ace Corporation makers of Jolly brands, which showcase the cooking prowess of students from different elite culinary schools in Metro Manila.
The event happened last March 15, 2019 at the Sr. Kuniberta Strathman Hall, St. Scholastica’s College, Manila. Organized by Fly Ace Corporation in partnership with SSC Manila as their official venue partner. This event was also sponsored by the following brand partners: Doña Elena, JollyCow, Lotus, Jolly Food Line, May Sparkling, Good Life, Masflex, Fujidenzo, Whirlpool, Tecnogas.
The event was truly a success, while these are the participating schools who made it to the top 20 finalists: St. Scholastica’s College, Manila, University of Sto. Tomas, Lyceum of the Philippines-Manila, NCBA Fairview, CEU Makati, Emilio Aguinaldo College, San Juan de Dios Educational Foundation Inc. College, FEU-Manila, Metropolitan Medical Center College of Arts, Science & Technology, Chiang Kai Shek, San Sebastian College- Recoletos, Earist, Manila Tytana College and St. Joseph College Quezon City
The Jolly University’s year 5 cook-off started from numerous entries from different Universities and Colleges. Every entry must have 2 dishes, a modern and fusion that incorporates jolly products. Twenty (20) finalists from different schools were picked to be on the live cook-off, where 2 of the finalist had the chance to win a “golden ticket” and advance in the second round by winning the most labels collected and having the most shared and liked photo of their entries on the jolly Facebook page. For the cook-off proper, 18 finalists who competed in the first round created their modern dish, then eight (8) finalists together with the 2 golden ticket winners advanced in the second round where they cooked their fusion dish. Out of the 10 remaining cooks 3 were awarded 2nd, 1st runner up and grand champion of Jolly University year 5. The champion won Php50, 000 worth of cash and prizes.
This fun-filled event turned out to be a success, attended by the Fly Ace Executives, Students SSC Manila Administrators, students and faculty from participating schools. It became a platform to inspire and encourage students, aspiring chefs to show their skills and passion for cooking through their own dishes. Jolly hopes that everyone keeps to INNOVATE ingredients that can CREATE wonderful dishes that you can SHARE with your family and friends.
