Institutional tree Planting Caps the Season for Creation

In line with the activities of the Committee on Environmental care (CEC), the Institutional Pree Planting was conducted in the SSC Tanauan, Batangas farm as part of the culmination of the celebration of the Season for Creation. Led by Sr. M. Christine Pinto, OSB, SSC President, and Sr. M. Rosario Obiniana, OSB, CEC Chair, the sixty administrators, sisters, students, faculty and staff took a bus ride to the SSC Farm for the tree planting. The event started with prayers on protecting creation and the blessing of the seedlings to be planted. After which the group went to different parts of the farm for planting, depending on the type of trees they were planting. Some planted fruit-bearing seedling, while others planted hardwood seedlings. The group was also treated to calamansi picking. The highlight of the event was the planting of the Kamagong Tree which was turned over to SSC during the launching of the Season for Creation last September 1, 2018, with the Global Catholic Climate Change Movement.
