“Impulse (noun): the sudden inclination prompting action!”

March 11,2015

The High School community’s aim is to effect an upstanding and tangible change on the school community and the adopted communities of St. Scholastica’s College, Manila. Like the word “impulse”, Scholasticans are known for being impetuses of meaningful change, especially when it comes to giving back to others. Last February 21, The High School Student Council and the Tanggapan ng Kalinga hosted its annual high school fundraiser entitled “Impulse: Live in the Moment” on school grounds from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Unlike in previous years, this school year’s fundraiser was a variety concert featuring acts from Ateneo High School’s Revolver, La Salle Greenhills Airforce, Colegio de San Agustin Dance Troupe, SSC Glee Club and Music Ensemble, SSC Sularaya Dance Troupe, and Valkyrie DJ, DJ Funk Avy. In addition, the event was hosted by former Scholasticans turned radio jocks, Bianca Cuatico and Bea Fernandez.

As per tradition, the event’s primary objective was to raise money to fund scholarships for the benefit of children affected by Typhoon Haiyan in Tacloban, through SSC’s project – Yakap-Eskwela . The amount that will be donated will truly go a long way in helping the children of Tacloban rebuild their lives. While the event is already long over, Impulse: Live in the Moment will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of the high school community and the adopted communities of SSC, as it is a testament to the idea that any action, no matter how big or small, has the power to change lives for the better.
