Christmas Angels: JAMmersion

January 7,2015

Holiday has been set early this year! Houses are covered with twinkling lights, and a decorated Christmas tree in the living room. Radio stations serenade us with Christmas carols, and the cold December air melts on our skin. Shopping malls are having a surplus of gift items, which will be boxed in exquisite gift wraps. Slowly they will pile up underneath the Christmas tree, waiting until the 25th of December. The best part about this is the traditional Noche Buena with our families and neighbors, a simple way of sharing your blessings to others.

Junior Association of Management (JAM), brought Christmas closer to Play and Learn Community Center in Purok 13 South Daang Hari, Taguig City last November 22, 2014. One of the adopted communities of St. Scholastica’s College Manila, this place made education possible for those who have less. SSC started the community center in the year 1995, ever since then, they have been part of every child’s success and happiness in the said area.

JAM conducted an outreach activity entitled JAMmersion, with the help of Ms. Gale Arrosa (SSC NSTP Facilitator), the fourth year students of the business organization made a Parol out of colored cartolinas which were later on used as decoration for the Christmas Tree at the social hall. From the number of kids who seek education in the Play and Learn Center, a few were chosen to participate in making the parol. In order to put a smile on the children’s faces, they were asked to write what they wish for Christmas this year.

Simple and inexpensive wishes were written down by the kids, with the spirit of charity and sharing of blessings, the students of BM4A will try their best to grant the desires of those children. In Christmas, prices are not worth the attention, it is the appreciation that matters most. The feeling of being able to make someone happy with something that is far from extravagant, will surely put a smile on your face.

This season is for sharing, for being grateful for all the things we have received over the almost ending year. All throughout the year, we took the gifts and blessings offered to us, now it is our time to give back a small portion to others.
