Blue Flame Wins in Journalism Tilt

Four members of the high school newspaper organization The Blue Flame bagged awards in this year’s Liyab 2019: 17th NCR-Wide Journalism Press Conference at the Philippine Normal University last October 12 and 19.

Isabella Julia Hernandez ranked 3rd in the Editorial Writing Category, Rianna G. Ronquillo placed 5th in Copyreading and Headline Writing, and Angelica Maxine Mendoza and Amara Kyla B. Bautista won 8th and 9th place in the Feature Writing category respectively. Faith Noreen Hocson, Amanda A. Palmera, and Eliza Marie C. Galang also competed for Photojournalism, News Writing, and Pagsulat ng Balita respectively.

More than 150 schools competed in the said regional contest with the theme: “Gampanin ng Kabataang Mamamahayag: Masidhing Pagpapaalab ng Pluma Tungo sa Pagmulat.”

The two-day event consisted of seminars for the first half of day one and the competition during the afternoon, with a one-week interval to give way for the preparation of the awarding ceremony which happened on the second day.

SSC also took home three awards from last year’s Liyab, bagging 9th for Copyreading and Headline Writing, 7th for Sports Writing, and 1st for Feature Writing.
