The Special Collections
College Lib 25

Women’s Studies Collection

Four collections make up the Special Collections in the SSC College Library. The collections – Women’s Studies, Environmental Studies, and Peace Studies refer to the advocacies of SSC. The Benedictine Studies collection, on the other hand, strengthens the identity of the school as a Benedictine institution.

This special collection contains books on Women and Gender studies and other related literature in support of the school’s women empowerment advocacy, the Women’s Studies curricular program, and the research agenda on women. Started in the early ’80s, this expanded to a full collection in 2012.

Peace Studies

Environmental Studies

In 2011, SSC collaborated with the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation to start this collection on the themes of peace and social justice. Intended initially to assist student’s research, this collection is envisioned to contain research papers and information on global peace and justice initiative.

In the history of SSC, the advocacies on Care for Mother Earth and environmental stewardship have always been included in its school themes. This collection holds relevant information on ecological studies that would support classroom teaching and learning, and faculty and student research on the topic.
