SSC hosts 8th Season of WCSA

St. Scholastica's College, Manila is hosting the opening of the 8th season of the Women's Colleges Sports Association (WCSA) on Saturday, November 14, 2009, 12:00 noon at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

HISTORY: WOMEN'S COLLEGES SPORTS ASSOCIATION (WCSA) 

The Women's Colleges Sports Association (WCSA) was founded in 2002 with five (5) schools as founding members, namely: Assumption College, College of the Holy Spirit, Miriam College, St. Paul College, Quezon City and St. Scholastica’s College, Manila.  These schools are also members of a Consortium of Women Colleges (CWC).  This league opens during the 2nd semester of the school year.  All events run from November until February. 

On its 2nd year, the association has invited other women colleges like St. Paul College, Manila, La Consolacion College, and Philippine Women's University. 

The association is being manned by a Management Team composed of Athletic Directors and P.E. Department Chairs of the member-schools.  The head of the schools comprises the Executive Council and is the policy-making body of the association.  The sports-events are being handled by the Management Team (Man Team) and these are basketball, volleyball, cheerdance, swimming, badminton, futsal and table tennis. 

On its 3rd year, the WCSA Man Team organized a basketball (Men) and volleyball (Women) league for employees of the member-schools. This event added to the camaraderie of the member-schools.

Through the years, the WCSA aims to improve and continue sports activities for women athletes.  It will continue inviting women colleges to join the league provided they pass the requirement. 

The association is also inviting sponsors to join and support the league.

II.    Doxology - "The Prayer" with the St. Scholastica's College Ballet Programs
III.   The Philippine National Anthem to be led by the St. Scholastica's College High School Glee
       Club
IV.   Welcome Remarks by Sr. M. Vicenta Anuran, OSB, SSC Vice-President for Admin Affairs
V.    Introduction of Guest Speaker by Atty Prima Jesusa Quinsayas, OIC, Student Affairs Office
VI.   Inspirational Message by Senator Pia Cayetano
VII.  Awarding of Plaques of Appreciation by Sr. Mary Thomas Prado, OSB, Vice-President for
       Academic Affairs to be assisted by Dr. Remedios Ching, Dean of College
VIII. Production Numbers to be performed by the SSC's Sining Tanghalan, College Varsity
       Teams, and SSC Pep Squad
IX.   Intermission of the St. Scholastica's College Grade School Rhythmizettes
X.    Torch Run of the Team Captains of the different member schools
XI.   Oath of Sportsmanship to be led by Ms. Gene Isabela D. Silva, SSC Team Captain, Volleyball
XII.  Launching of WCSA Hymn to be performed by the St. Scholastica's College Choir and
       Danz Edge
XIII. Declaration of the Opening of the 8th Season of WCSA by Ms. Ma. Vivian P. Manila,
       SSC Institutional Sports Coordinator and WCSA Adviser
XIV. Ceremonial Toss to be initiated by Sr. Mary Thomas Prado, OSB and assisted by the
