WNCAA 46th Season Opening Ceremony
Over the years, the Women’s National Collegiate Athletic Association (WNCAA) has been organizing and hosting athletic events and competitions for its sixteen member schools for the development of women’s various athletic potentials, in hopes of creating successful, ethical and sportsmanlike athletes who showcase Filipino excellence while simultaneously integrating character formation in education. This year is no different.
Breaking in with the theme, “Strong Women, Strong Nation”, the 46th season of the WNCAA kicked off on August 21, 2015 at 10:00AM with this year’s host school, Philippine Women’s University (PWU) leading the way. Rizal Memorial Coliseum was overflowing with not only the numerous supporters from different schools around the nation, but also with the undying support and school spirit each student present was showing. As the people were piling into the stadium, PWU could be seen executing preparations for the Opening Ceremony. The program commenced with performances by PWU students, followed by the introduction of the sixteen participating schools. Afterwards, Ms. Dolores Fernandez, the League President, delivered her Opening Remarks. This was immediately followed by the inspirational speech for the athletes of guest speaker Ms. Ada Milby, and the message from the host school delivered by Mr. Alfredo Jose B. Reyes, PWU’s Vice President for External Affairs. The ceremony concluded with the Ceremonial Ball Toss led by the defending champions Centro Escolar University (CEU) Scorpions and host school PWU Patriots.
