The Blue and White Affair, an Affair to Celebrate

March 26,2014

The College Blue and White Affair last March 14, 2014 was a day to celebrate and to give recognition to the outstanding efforts of student organizations and the Student Council for schoolyear 2013-2014. Being a part of the Student Activities Program of the Student Affairs Office, The Blue and White Affair is the culmination of the year’s achievements of student organizations, capped by the ritual of turning over the leadership of the Student Council and the student organizations to the incoming officers. The affair was held in the field, where the student leaders were joined by administrators and faculty for the presentation of awards.

The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants or JPIA and the Art Society ran off with the top three awards: Outstanding Student Organizations, Outstanding Moderators — Prof. Aquilino Soriano (JPIA) and Prof. Elizabeth Castillo (ArtSoc), and Outstanding Presidents — Lovely April Salazar (JPIA) and Jiress Ann Romulo (ArtSoc). The Congregation pro Vita Scientia (CVS) and the Junior Marketing Association (JMA) took off with two awards. JMA got the Outstanding Moderator Award for its mentor, Prof. Jerry Cocabo and the Outstanding Organization President Award, Ms Janine Kyra Rivera.  CVS on the other hand got the Outstanding Organization award and also had an outstanding moderator award for  Prof. Nikki Andrei Tan.

The other awardees were: Outstanding Organizations — Sining Tanghalan and Psychology Society; Outstanding Moderator, Prof. Mary Joy Rosales-Orante for Political Science Society, and Karen May Buan Organization President Award.

The highlight of the event was the sharing of 2011-2012 Student Council President, Krista Misajon, who gave the student leaders tips on surviving and persevering in the bigger world. Krista’s talk ended with her commitment to help in mentoring the Scholastican student leaders.

The Blue and White Affair was capped by the ceremonial turning-over of the leadership helm to the new batch of officers, as symbolized by the pinning of the Student Council pins to the new SC officers and the giving of St. Scholastica’s medals.
