The Tulong Mayon Team, composed of eight members of the school community, headed by the school president, Sr. Mary Frances Dizon, OSB left for Legaspi City on February 18, 2018 to bring and distribute relief goods to evacuees of the Mayon Volcano eruption. The group brought with them goods collected from the SSC school community composed of several cavans of rice, food items e.g. canned goods, noodles, powdered milk, chocolate drinks, toiletries, toys, blankets and boxes of linens donated by a private hospital.
Coordination was done with the Outreach Center of St. Agnes Academy, coordinated by Sr. Carmela Mitaran, OSB, who pre-identified the recipients of the relief bags and accompanied us to the evacuation center.
On February 20, 2018, an initial visit was done in Camalig to firm up coordination with those in charge of the evacuation centers. Merienda packs were also distributed. The next day, February 21, the team went back for the actual distribution. More than 160 senior citizens of Barangay Sua who evacuated to Barangay Camuu in Camalig, Albay due to heavy ash fall in their area, received the relief bags.
The remaining goods left in St. Agnes Academy were distributed by Sr. Carmela to 65 families of Barangay Muladbukad in Guinobatan, Albay who evacuated to Barangay Inascan in Guinobatan last February 24, 2018.
The Tulong Mayon Team was composed of Sr. Mary Frances Dizon, OSB, (School President), Rebecca P. Marquez (ISAC), Delia Sarmiento and Arche Ligo (College), Evelyn Dungog (Office Personnel), Bryan Hona (General services Staff), Dawn Peña (The Scholastican) and Karla la Rosa (Ora et Laban), were back in Manila early morning of February 22, 2018 after taking a 12 hour bus ride.
