SSC Economics Students Bag Awards at the National Economics Summit (NES) 2017

September 29,2017

The 7th National Economics Summit (NES) 2017 was held last September 8 to 10, 2017 at the Hive Hotel, Quezon City. Hosted by the UP Economics Society, the National Economic Summit continued its legacy of providing insight on timely and relevant economic issues through the discussion of environmental economics. It tackled current environmental issues and encouraged delegates to open their eyes on the national and global situations of our environment through the promotion of principles such as efficiency, valuation and sustainability.

The Summit was attended by the different students’ economics organizations in the country. The St. Scholastica’s College was represented by the Economics Organization (EconOrg) of the School of Business. One highlight of the event was the selection of NES Ambassadors and Ambassadresses to forefront the event.  Scholastican Ms. Michaeliza Ledesma, 4th year, IBEAD was one of the favorite Ambassadresses selected by the assembly.  The other 3rd and 4th year IBEAD students likewise stood high amongst the sea of brilliant students they were grouped with. Bagging awards from the other major events at the summit were Ms. Erika G. Paca’s group by winning the Environmental Policy Pitch Making. The Business Plan Making Competition event was won by the Scholastican group of Justine Jane Advincula, Sophie O. Aguilar, Ma. Faustina B. Fernandez, Michaeliza P. Ledesma, Ashley Austine B. Perido and Patricia Kyle V. Salcedo.

The last but not the least, the Photo Liking Competition among the NES ambassadors was won by Scholastican Ambassadress Michaeliza P. Ledesma.

The awards not only bring prestige to our Institution but also epitomize the quality of training and education Scholasticans go through in the program. Indeed, the delegates from the IBEAD EconOrg came and conquered the summit with heads held high.
