Scions Take Off in Pep Rally
“One fight, one flight, one Scions!” the Scholasticans shouted with pride during the Pep Rally last August 1, 2014 at the Gym. Students from all units all waited for the athletes in blue and white to come out and show their SSC pride.
The Pep Rally was the students and faculty’s way of supporting the athletes who work hard to represent St. Scholastica’s College in the WNCAA games. Everyone sang the SSC cheer and encouraged the young players so that they could and should win in the name of the school. Even Ten-ten, the school mascot, came to shake hands and play with the students and the sisters.
The teams were presented and the crowd was inspired by the speeches of three successful athletes who were former Scions. Monica Ortiz, Aliyah Ong, and Princess Gaiser played for the Grade School and High School volleyball teams and are now competing at the V-Leagues and UAAP for the UP Fighting Maroons. The three-star athletes explained that time management is the key to their success. They also shared that though sports are challenging, it makes them proud to represent their school. It is truly a great achievement to undergo training while studying every day.
Many students were happy to get autographs from the famous Scions athletes and watch the Pep Squads’ performances. The song “Happy” by Pharell rang through the entire gym, and there really was nothing that could bring SSC down during the Pep Rally. Go Scions! You make us proud!
