School of Business Launches Business Planning Competition 2015
The first ever Business Planning Competition 2015 in the School of Business was launched last 17 August 2015 by Dean Ramon R. Mañalac and the Faculty of Business. In order to further the education and training of business students, the activity was designed to provide the students the opportunity to showcase and put into practice their competencies in the analytical use of business information and management planning to produce real-life business plan.
There are five (5) competing teams with each team composed of 3rd and 4th year majoring students representing the five (5) business programs (BIT/BISM, BM, FM, IBEAD & MM). The said student participants were preselected and recommended by their respective Department Heads to represent the program. As a main prerequisite to the competition, each team shall have to be sponsored by a real company who will be the virtual proponent of the business plan proposal. This will require the participants to work together with real business persons in the early stage of brainstorming and project conceptualization.
Guided by the Benedictine Stewardship theme, the business plan shall be evaluated in terms of uniqueness, innovativeness, economic feasibility, evidence of customer acceptance, quality of analysis, among others. The time frame provided for the planning exercise is a 3-month period. Marking the end of the planning period, the oral revalida is set on 20-21 November 2015. The emerging Champion team shall be invited to make a presentation of its business plan in the Business Talks Forum of the School of Business during the celebration of the College Week in January 2016.
The Steering and Judging Committee is composed of the School of Business Department Heads and Dean Ramon R. Mañalac.
