Musika: Harmonizing the Christmas Season
As we all know it, Christmas is one of the most anticipated seasons of the year. A season full of joy in gift-giving and celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus is to describe it. This school year, St. Scholastica’s College (SSC) Manila Junior High School’s Music Ensemble lights up the whole month of December with your favorite Christmas songs and carols.
Music Ensemble is one of SSC’s organizations in the field of music and the arts; composed of 24 students led by their club moderator, Mr. Cezar Madridejos. The group has been learning and preparing different pieces for months in order to enchant everyone’s ears and brighten up the season of merry-making. The students have had their participation in different events such as the SEP Christmas Party last December 12 where they played Christmas carols for the children of SSC’s adopted communities. They also had a major part in the December 17 Simbang Gabi held at the school chapel for the students were assigned to sing during the mass. Another event the club organized was their ‘Christmas Caroling’ entitled ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ held last December 18. Different groups of instruments, namely, the guitar, violin and percussion group had their own pieces to perform. Some of the known songs performed are Pasko na Sinta Ko, Jingle Bells, O Holy Night. Lastly, the club also provided music during this year’s Panunuluyan – Peace Camp 2015.
Truly, the season of Christmas was enjoyed by each and everyone, thanks to the music shared by Music Ensemble. The organization definitely pulled off a successful year. Looks like the season of Christmas is not only about joy, laughter, merry-making and gift-giving, but it is also a season filled with beautiful music to keep its flame alive in our hearts.
