Music Festival 2014
The St. Scholastica’s Music Alumni Association, with the St. Scholastica’s College School of Music presented its 3rd Music Festival at the St. Cecilia’s Hall. The two-day event, a series of recitals held at 3:00pm on Sept. 27 and then at 10:00am, 1:30pm, 3:30pm and 6:00pm on Sept. 28, featured the students of SSC Music Alumni and Faculty. This year, alumni from various parts of Metro Manila, Marikina and Batangas, brought in more or less a hundred and twenty student-participants, the highest number in the school’s history.
The Gala Concert, the final event staged at 6:00pm on Sept. 28, was dedicated to an outstanding alumna and pianist, Henrietta Tayengco-Limjoco (BM 1948), who studied with Sr. Cecile Donato, OSB , and received raves for her performance of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto for her graduation recital at SSC. She later took her Master’s degree at the Juilliard School in New York under the renowned pedagogue Josef Raieff.
A follow-up event is being scheduled for the following year or so, owing to the warm response of the participants, their parents and teachers. The organizers would like to express their gratitue to St. Scholastica’s College, the Music Alumni and the Tayengco family for the resounding success of the festival.
