Lenten Retreat for College Faculty Held
The annual retreat of the College Faculty always comes after the year – end evaluation. After two days of intensive listening to reports, it is the spirit and the body that need nourishment, so on the morning of April 7, 2014, a busload of 45 persons including S. M. Isabel Orito, OSB, head of College Campus Ministry and Ms. Gemma Singian, office assistant, left for St. Scholastica’s Center of Spirituality, Brgy. Iruhin, Tagaytay City. Six other faculy members and the facilitator, Rev. Fr. Eugene Cañete, MJ went straight to Tagaytay bringing to 52 the total number of persons who attended the retreat.
Fr. Eugene, MJ, in his “Voice of Democracy” voice, unaided by technology, delivered two conferences developing the topic, “Our Paschal Journey as seen through the Sunday readings of Lent.” Consequently, the retreatants encountered Jesus in his 40 days’ stay in the desert, the Samaritan woman at the well, the man born blind heald by Jesus and the raising of Lazarus from the dead. Fr. Eugene gave reflection questions that went straight to the heart because they referred to the current situations they are in.
The liturgy and the other activities in between were taken care of by S. Isabel with the assistance of Gemma. It was capped by a wekk – sung Eucharistic celebration. There was a group picture in front of the chapel followed by a hearty lunch. Then at 1:15 P.M. of April 8, 2014, all boarded to the bus for home, refreshed in body, mind and spirit. Thanks be to God!
