KAIROS – The Night of Nine Celebrations

March 15,2016

Every year the High School Unit of St. Scholastica’s College Manila allows their students to organize their batch social gathering. With the new curriculum of the K-12, the supposed to be Junior Prom was redefined into a simple Batch Party. Despite many violent reactions from the Grade 9 because of their inability to hold their Junior Prom, they were able to experience a very memorable and meaningful night as a batch.

Last January 30, 2016, all the Grade 9 students came to St. Scholastica’s College Manila to celebrate their Batch Night entitled KAIROS meaning “The Right Moment”. The field of the school was converted into a huge colorful garden with a Bohemian theme, decorated with different flowers and lights.

All the students were dressed according to the theme and a great transformation was seen among them. Most of them had grown into beautiful and elegant young teens. This indeed exemplified their batch night’s title KAIROS. As its meaning says, the Ancient Greeks had two words for time: chronos and kairos. The former refers to chronological or sequential time and the latter signifies a time lapse, a moment of indeterminate time in which everything happens. Thus, this is the time of the coming out of our children from their childhood. They have become young teens – it is the appropriate time.

Our children had a great time with their special guests, Chelsey Ronquillo and JV Bautista who sang their favorite songs. DJ JD Argonza made them dance all night with his rave music.

Raffle prizes and special awards were given. The chosen Lady of the Night (this award was given to the student who had a great transformation from her regular school day looks and actions) was Juliane Rising of Grade 9 Openness. The Miss Nine of the Night was awarded to Erika Perez of Grade 9 Awareness. She was chosen to have stood out among her batch mates during the night because of her looks and confidence in carrying herself. Both winners received a bouquet of flowers and a 1000 pesos gift check of Forever 21 from our generous parents.

This memorable event of the Grade 9 students was born out of the love of their parents who have been selfless in guiding and bringing them up since birth. The Grade  9 Homeroom Officers and Volunteers of St. Scholastica’s College Manila High School Parent Association took time in organizing this occasion. We thank you for the love that you continue to give and express our children.
