JPIA and AoAs Sponsors NSS Intramurals 2017

March 22,2017

For four consecutive years now, the Junior Philippines Institute of Accountants (JPIA) in collaboration with the Association of Athletes (AoAs) successfully sponsored the Night Secondary School (NSS) Intramurals with the objective of sharing the organizations’ time, talent and treasure to promote sportsmanship, right values, cooperation, teamwork and camaraderie.

This year’s NSS Intramurals was held last March 3 (Friday) which started with a parade at the College Gym of all NSS student participants grouped into year levels from Grade 7 to Senior Grade 10.  This was immediately followed by musical invocation performed by members of the Society of Music and the singing of the National Anthem.  Sr. Rosario Obiniana, OSB, Principal delivered her opening message, after which, a dance number was rendered by the members of Danz Edge that pumped up the excitement inside the gym. An inspirational message for the participants was delivered by Ms. Bea Panambo, an alumna of the NSS after which, the torch run was done by Ms. Kathleen Jesusa, from Grade 10 Senior.  Ms. Melanie Sayas, Assistant Principal, officially declared the 2017 Intramurals open.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the entire NSS student participants were grouped into two competing teams – the Blue Team and White Team, which proceeded to their respective sports venue.  The competitive team sports included basketball, volleyball and badminton, and the field games included the obstacle relay, sack race and tug-of-war.  Board games were also held to include chess and scrabble.

The last and most awaited part of the Intramurals was the Cheer Dance Competition participated in by five teams grouped by year levels which were judged by members of the College Pep Squad.

The awarding ceremony for the winners of the respective events were then recognized and declared and were given Certificates of Achievement and accompanying ribbons and the Cheer Dance victors were awarded plaques.  In the end it was the Grade 9 who emerged as Champions of the Cheer Dance Competition followed by the Grade 10 Junior as first runner-up and the Grade 7, second runner up.  The overall champion for this year’s NSS Intramurals was the Blue Team.

The closing remark was delivered by Mr. Ian Dauson, volunteer teacher of the NSS and the closing prayer by Ms. Micaela Salvador, JPIA Vice President.
