JHS faculty volunteers join Brigada Eskwela 2017

July 26,2017

It has been a tradition for St. Scholastica’s College Manila, Junior High School Faculty in cooperation with the Tanggapan ng Kalinga to participate in the “BRIGADA ESKWELA”, the annual DepEd Bayanihan program aimed at bringing together nationwide voluntary efforts and contributions for the maintenance of public schools.

Faculty volunteers led by the Outreach Coordinator Mrs. Abigail H. Gaon gathered on May 26, 2017 for the said event. The group went to the school’s adopted community, Rafael Palma Elementary School and Bernabe Elementary School.

Unlike last year’s Brigada Eskwela when students, teachers and members of the barangay helped in the tidying of rooms and decks, covering books and painting classrooms, this year’s Brigada Eskwela focused on donating books and other school materials to the adopted school community.

The school materials and books donated were warmly received by Mr. Mario T. Endico, Principal of Rafael Palma Elementary School and Dr. Felina P. Patagan of Bernabe Elementary School. The JHS faculty were very enthusiastic in bringing this goods and donating them to those in need.

For the past three years the Junior High School Faculty and Tanggapan ng Kalinga have been active participants of the “Brigada Eskwela” not only to aid nearby schools, but also to promote among its members the Benedictine hallmarks of community, stewardship and service.
