Increasing the Greens for Mother Earth
Last October 4, 2018, the whole St. Scholastica’s College Community gathered in the field for a Morning Praise and a program of commitment of the school to care for Mother Earth. The day was the culmination of the Season of Creation, the global campaign to care for Mother Earth as well as the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.
The Morning Praise started with reflections on the need to care for Mother Earth. The SSC’s Environmental Conservation Pledge was recited by everyone. The students enjoyed the “Dance of the Elements” which was led by the P.E. teachers and Danz Edge. Ten-Ten, the school mascot also came to demonstrate the use of the new trash bins.
Seeds and seedlings were also planted by the representatives of the different units of the school to be placed around the campus or in the Tanauan Farm in Batangas. A turning over of the Kamagong tree, which was given to SSC during the Walk for Creation last Sept. 1, 2018 was also done. The Kamagong tree will also be planted in the Tanauan Farm.
As part of the celebration and as a reminder of enriching the greens on earth, all members of the school community were encouraged to come in green shirts.
