I-HOTELEIRES joined MAFBEX –YHE Competition
The 11th edition of the Manila Food and Beverage Expo (MAFBEX) was held last June 14-18, 2017 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila for another unforgettable gastronomic presentation of the country’s finest flavors. Over a decade since its first edition, MAFBEX continues to be hailed as the biggest and most sought-after food expo; one wherein friends and families may gather round to explore new tastes and flavors as well as enjoy other fun and exciting food-related events and activities. This time around, MAFBEX seeks to promote a sense of adventure not only among foodies but also within communities of trade professionals who are looking to explore business opportunities within the F&B industry.
MAFBEX was presented in cooperation with the Young Hoteliers Exposition (YHE) and the Organization of Bar Professionals (OBP). Yearly the exposition holds differents themes as the creative handle of competitions. This year’s theme was “HOLLYFOOD” The Ultimate Foodventure! It encourages participants to let their food and beverage imagination go wild and tingle their senses thorough Comedy, Drama, Action, Romance, Adventure, Horror, Sci-fi.
The students of the Institute of Hotel, Leisure and Restaurant Management (I-Hoteleires) of St. Scholastica’s College, Manila joined the journey to the Hollyfood adventure in five (5) categories, such as Table Set-Up & Napkin Folding, Pasta Making, Buffet Centerpiece, Food Styling and Photography and Market Basket mentored by Prof. Lailie Uy-Sicdawag.
In God’s guidance and perseverance of the students, they won in Food Styling and Photography. The Champions were Hannah Margollo (3rd Year) and Mikhaela Louise Beron (2nd Year).
Catherine Joy Laco, Mary Joy Laude and Mariella Cailles joined forces to execute the Table Set-Up and Napkin Folding Designs. Joanne Rome, Patrice Ann Santiago, Feleciene dela Cruz and Trixia Sevilla competed for Pasta Making. Mykaela Velasco, Jazmin Manabat, Lauren Lago and Eula Imus entered the Buffet Centerpiece Competition. Christine Padilla, Charmaine Agustin and Kea Bayaras took part in Market Basket.
Indeed, MAFBEX-YHE shows are nothing shortof overwhelming.
