Graders Celebrate Earth Day
Last October 3, 2014, the Scholasticans celebrated the most awaited event for the Science Month: Earth Day! Students came rushing to the field, eagerly waiting for the program to start. Celebrating Earth Day has been a tradition in the SSC Grade School, mainly to show love for Mother Earth and to thank God for creating this wonderful planet for us to live in.
The Earth picnic gave the students a chance to eat all their favorite nutritious food and enjoy presentations from the different clubs, students, teachers, and the event’s special guests, the Aetas from Pampanga .
The program began with the Rhythmizettes’ performance of “Mother Earth”. The Children’s Choir sang “Circle of Life” with Mr. Ralph Martinez. The Kids’ Praise Ministry presented the “Earth! We’re in It Together”. The Ethnic Ensemble played unique Filipino instruments. Kinder students showed the wonderful creatures of nature in a sweet dance. Even the ates and kuyas from the College of Music joined the celebration through their rendition of “Colors of the Wind”. Steffie Tactacan of 6-St. Gregory serenaded the audience with a song for life. The Rondalla performed “Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head” and “Do Re Mi”. The talented Mr. Juanito Dona, together with some Grade 6 students, sang “May Magagawa Ka, Kaibigan” which gave encouragement to all. The Bazooksy club presented “The Story of the Rainbow”, which told that people should appreciate one another. The Grade 2 students also performed with their teachers. Last but not the least, the Aetas performed their native dances and rituals. The Grades 2 and 5 had an interaction with the Aetas after the program. The students got to interview the Aetas and even try out their dances.
Though the Earth Day has ended, surely the students will never forget their promise to care for Mother Earth.
