G9 whiz emerges 2nd in History Bee 2017
Karuna May Mansukhani, known as a history enthusiast in her Grade 9 batch, won 2nd place in the History Bee Philippines Inter-school Competition held last August 10-13 at the World Trade Center, pasay City.
The History Bee was one of the activities during the 2nd History Convention organized by the History Channel. The quiz bee consisted of three stages: the Elimination, the Semi-finals, and the Finals round. In the Elimination round held on August 10, 178 students from approximately 89 schools took a written exam wherein the 10 students with the highest scores advanced to the semi-final round. In the semi-finals, the contestants answered questions by raising a white board in front of a live audience. There were three rounds with 15 questions. The five students with the highest scores advanced to the finals held on August 13.
At the end of the Final round, the top three scorers were declared. Third place went to Daniel Vincent Co of St. Jude Catholic School, second place went to Mansukhani and the Champion was Mar Damien Escalona of De La Salle Antipolo. Winners brought home cash prize, medal, and Yakult drink.
