College Faculty Holds Badminton Tourney
Spearheaded by the College Physical Education (PE) Department, badminton enthusiasts from the College Faculty held a friendly fun-tourney last 26 June 2015 at the Sr. Assumpta Filser Sports Center (SSC gym). It was a thrilling competition that pitted pairs of highly spirited badminton beginners and ace players in a genderless doubles format. Emerging as the champion team is the tandem of Profs. Gigi Cordova (PE Department) and Lorraine Llagas (Philosopy Department). The ladies pair defeated the erstwhile tournament leader machos Profs. Noy Macapinlac (IRAD) and Francis Quesada (Financial Management Department) in a grueling 30-points championship match. Placing 3rd is the beauteous pair of Dr. Mariel Rubia (Psychology Department) and Prof. Mary Merida (Filipino Department).
The badminton fun tourney was conceived and organized to provide opportunity for the busy faculty members to engage in healthier active lifestyle involving sports and athletics. This is just one of the ways by which the College Physical Education Department upholds holistic health and wellness not only among its students but to the entire community as well.
The other participants in the tournament were: Prof. Rembrandt Santos (Theology Department, Prof. Jing Calzado (Theology Department), Dr. Irish Sioson (E-Lacie), Prof. Raffy Oliva (Hotel & Restaurant Management Deparatment), Prof. Encar Deveraturda (PE Department) and Prof. Joanne Pepito (PE Department).
