A Haven for the children
The Junior Restaurateurs and Hoteliers Association’s drive entitled, “Cents that makes Sense” is a fundraising activity wherein bottles were filled up with centavos similar to the Catholic Church’s “Pondo ng Pinoy”. All proceeds will be donated to Bahay Aruga – a home of children with afflicted with cancer and are undergoing treatment at the Philippine General Hospital.
The experience of visiting Bahay Aruga is truly a life-changing moment as we were made aware of the situations of different families – families who came from very far provinces hoping to find the cure and lessen the suffering of their loved-ones. This drive had taught us to be more compassionate to others – to those who are less fortunate than us.
St. Scholastica’s College objective is for their students and graduates to be critically aware and socially responsible agents of change. This drive showed that it’s the small things that matter. Those small things would make a significant change.
“ Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.” D.T.
