In keeping with this commitment, the College requires a strong liberal arts orientation in all its academic programs. During their first two (2) years at St. Scholastica’s, students receive a solid foundation in the arts, humanities, natural and social sciences. In both its general education courses and courses in the students’ major field of concentration, students are exposed to innovative teaching strategies characterized by their student-centeredness and  interdisciplinarity. These processes are sustained by qualified and dedicated administrators, faculty members and school personnel in adequate, well-maintained and updated facilities.

IMG_0640Opportunities for students, faculty and staff development are created to promote a spiritual, physical, psychological and professional growth by tapping not only local but also international resources.  

In keeping with its reputation as a school with high standards, St. Scholastica’s College continues to preserve its prestigious image as evidenced by its receiving the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities’ (PAASCU) re-accreditation status.SSC was first accredited in 1957, the College Unit has since been re-accredited six (6) times (1960, 1967, 1974, 1981, 1987, 1994, and 2008 and 2012).  On 2001, it was granted full autonomy status by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

• whose administration, faculty and students are conversant with the current economic, political, socio-cultural and ecological conditions of the Philippines;

• where the academic community is actively involved in working with the marginalized of society towards self-reliance and total human liberation;

• where curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities foster the development of social awareness and involvement of the different sectors of the community with chosen programs of action that promote genuine democracy and nationalism;

• whose systems of evaluation recognize the uniqueness of every person, develop critical thinking, and cultivate social responsibility;

• where policies of employment and interrelationships reflect social values, especially justice, equity and respect for human dignity; and

• where the various sectors participate in making the decisions and policies which affect them.

The College Unit commits itself to providing an atmosphere conducive to learning characterized by academic freedom, intellectual and artistic stimulation and open and congenial interpersonal relationships.

In line with its commitment to maintaining academic excellence, the College Unit facilitates and monitors innovative teaching strategies and encourages interdisciplinary approaches to learning.  Student centered activities are emphasized to allow for students’ individual differences and to enable them to become active and lifelong learners.  Qualified, dedicated and effective administrators, faculty members and school personnel provide the necessary support in achieving and sustaining the various goals and objectives of the college. Facilities and resources supportive of the academic programs are well maintained and regularly updated to answer the needs of current educational requirements and rapid technological changes.


IMG_7040Students enrolled In the College Unit come from diverse economic, geographic and educational backgrounds.  Committed to providing an academic environment that fosters community life, the College values each student as an individual with unique abilities and potentials and encourages the development of mutual respect among administrators, faculty, staff and students.

St. Scholastica’s College is a member of the following consortia: South Manila Inter-Institutional Consortium (SMIC) which includes educational institutions namely, De La Salle University, Philippine Christian University, Philippine Normal University, Philippine Women’s University, Lyceum of the Philippines, University of the Philippines-Manila, St. Paul College, Manila and Adamson University; Consortium of Women’s Colleges (CWC), which includes colleges, namely, Assumption College and Miriam College and Consortium of Benedictine Colleges in Metro Manila (CBCM) with San Beda-Mendiola and San Beda-Alabang as co-member schools.  The consortium offers opportunities for credit by examination and cross-registration and the sharing of library resources, support services and student activities, and faculty sharing along the areas ofresearch, among others.
